Are Politicians Missing Something?
An interesting post at Webware yesterday said, Barack Obama Getting All Web 2.0 On Us. All because he announced that he will put some sort of social networking up on his site. What’s missing? RSS! That led me to check on some other 2008 hopefuls to see what they are doing.
I only checked 6 out of the approximately 1,000 people who are or might be running for President in 2008 and here’s what I found - besides Obama, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Hillary do not have RSS feeds on their sites. John Edwards does but it’s WAY at the bottom of the screen and I really had to search for it. Only Mitt Romney’s RSS button was prominent.
In this part of the campaign, what is more important to a candidate than keeping his (or her) name in front of people? I know RSS is not the only way to do it but it has become part of the mix. Even people who don’t have aggregators can easily sign up for e-mail alerts.
Politicians seem to be ‘getting’ that the internet is important but they really need some education on what will help them. Where are their campaign advisors?

Thanks, Ken. I only checked the front page of all the sites. I think that is where many people will look. I Googled the names and simply brought up the first site that appeared to be some official site.
