A Feed Is Born

Cleaning House

by Juned on January 1st, 2008

At the start of the year one of things one does is to goes through one’s stuff and pick out those that one needs and those that should go to the trash bin. Libraries do this in order to keep their collection of books and other materials - fit : updated and wisely managed. Officially its called the library’s collection development policy. Do you think a collection of RSS and Information policy is needed? Simply put do you have a system to maintain your RSS feed collection lean and mean?

I guess it all depends on nature and habit of the RSS owner. There are things that would be wise to consider of irregardless of RSS; owners taste.

Importance

How important is the feed to the person. Is it part of the daily routine? Is part of his business. Does he or she need it in his work or life? If it is important then surely it must not be removed.

Interest

Is the feed interesting? Does it make one look back? Was the post written in such a way that if if it were to be inundated with other things or if something has been removed. it would still be a good post. Then keep it,

Inactive

There really is not much can one do with inactive feeds. This happens when the blog and website begins to fade into the Internet. But a suggestion It might be prudent to place it into a folder of comatose RSS and not totally get rid of them.

I am sure there are other suggestions. Care to add some more?
