Facebook and the forty or so RSS applications
Today, If you type the word RSS in the search field of Facebook you will find that there are sixty profiles, three hundred ninety-eight groups, twenty one events and forty-one applications. Imagine 41 applications with RSS on it in Facebook. This means 41 RSS readers, aggregators, and rss-related applications. And this in itself is an information overload.
Would you choose one or more?
So far I am using three:
I. FlogBlog for a personal blog
Flog Blog almost seamlessly integrates one’s blog into face book. There is built-in full page viewer that is linked from your profile. This allows your posts to be displayed without having to navigate away from FaceBook and it also contains permalinks back to the original blog, to increase your traffic. Flog Blog also allows pictures, links and other other things to be displayed on your full-page Flog. The application is also highly customizable. One can dictate what how many words on a post can seen.
Due to the ease of installation and customisabkle. This seems to be very apt for personal blogs.
II. Blog RSS Feeder for niche and business blogs
Blog RSS Feed Reader allows you to add a personal blog or corporate blog RSS Feed.
The applications haa several features and allows punters to do lot pf things.
1) It accepts the main XML formats including ATOM, RSS .92, RSS 2.0 and RSS + RDF
2) It can work with any popular blogging platforms
3) Be able add an image, description and link to your RSS Feed & Blog
4) Be able to send emails to friends (daily or as it happens)
5) Be able to update intervals, published dates and number of posts
6) Be able to send email alerts.
This application looks very professional and indeed seems well suited for a business, corporate or even a niche blog.
III. Simply RSS for aggregating blogs
Simply RSS provides an easy way to add feeds (so far maximum of three). It supports all types of web feeds - all forms of RSS, two major versions of ATOM (0.3 and 1.0) and a number of other names spaces. One can use this as an aggregator of one’s feeds, feed of friends or a set of favorite feeds.
