Farewell 2007 and Hello 2008
In a few hours the a new year will be upon us, at least based on the Julian Calendar. And as the year end we look at how it went. The year has been exciting for RSS and web feeds. It has become more popular or rather ubiquitous. The use of RSS and web feeds is no longer limited to delivering the news or blog posts. RSS feeds can now be used to change the photos in certain screens. Training can be done using RSS feeds. And even information overload on has been controlled with the use of RSS and Web feeds.
Furthermore -
RSS has become a big Internet commodity that the acquisition of Feedburner by Google figure prominently in not only in the Tech Papers but also in the mainstream and more significantly business media organizations.
RSS has become the third most searched word in the Google what is Search. And aside from indicating its popularity it also points out the need for more efforts to familiarize and acquaint people on how to use RSS. There are more people to convert so to speak.
So as the year end, RSS and Information Overload will still be an important part of the Internet and Web landsacpe in 2008. With new issues, developments and challenges. Read The Death of RSS (and the Rise of the Microformat posted at from.bz. It discusses one of the challenges and is quite interesting and thought provoking read.
It should be another interesting year.
Anyway, Here is a recipe for a Happy New Year from an unknown person. I hope you enjoy it.
Take twelve fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate, cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed from all the past—have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time. Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.
Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work (some people omit this ingredient and so spoil the flavor of the rest), hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing— don’t do it), prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.
Happy New Year from A Feed Is Born
