FeedCompare: My Feed is better than your Feed !
The other day I was talking to a good friend and we were talking about the problem of how to measure the success of a blogs. It would seem that there is still no accurate way of measuring the impact of a blog. There are more of course of wide range of things - descriptive statistics or not - that can be done to measure the success of a blog or websites. Number of hits, links, comments and even number of RSS subscribers. Someone is actually selling RSS subscribers online (sheesh!!!).
If you want to measure and compare RSS one can use FeedCompare. This is a tool one can use to compare four feeds side by side. And it presents its comparison via a colorful line graph.
Now there is the story of the four blinfolded wise men and animal X. And it seems wise to remember that when one tends to focus on one aspect (descriptive statistic) of a thing - in this case a blog or a website.
FeedCompare is fun specially if it is a feedbrag-off or an RSS pissing contest. As a tool it has its fine points but one needs to balance it off with other means of measurement and subject to a battery of checks.
