Forward webfeeds with RssFwd
Steve Bass of PC World in a post wrote that he prefers to receive his RSS feeds through email. I can see the advantage of getting having one’s rss as email. It is fast and hassle free. Plus, very very office safe. Although, I do not if it would be the best way to handle around three hundred webfeeds or more. But, if the popularity of subscription by email is the basis then I am quite sure there are a number of people out there who receive webfeeds via email. Most sites would have the option for its reader to get a web feed or an email subscription. And if not it would be better if they did. It is all about being reader friendly: to have options available to all readers and readers’ preference. In the event that there is no such service available, Steve Bass points out a service that can be used if you want to receive your webfeed as email - RssFwd.
To convert the webfeed you desire (to read) into an email just go the RssFeed website here. Then paste the feed url into the blank field and voila in a few seconds have converted your webfeed into an email subscription. All you have to do afterwards is provide your email address and start enjoying the service.
RssFwd is a service provided by online marketing communications provider blue sky factory and is powered by Ruby On Rails.
If you go around the RssFwd website you will five pages aside from the home page. (i) main contact page; (ii) popular feeds - this allows you to see the popular feeds registered to the service and potentially allows you to subscribe to the particular email service; (iii) readers - gives instructions on how to use the service and has a flash demo provided by Productivity Folio; (iv)publishers - gives webpublishers tips and resources on how to use RssFwd; and (v) a link to RssFwd’s blog wannabe3.1 to get updated information about the product.
Again, this is one way to read one’s webfeed. Unobtrusive and office safe. And I think more importantly it helps fill in the gap caused by reluctance to use on-line or desktop readers.
