Google Reader Short Cut keys

by Juned on February 24th, 2008

I was reading this post, J-walking with Reader, at Google Reader blog about the most popular short cut key used in Google Reader. According to the post , which was written by Mihai Parparita, one of the most used and popular short cut was the letter J and this basically takes you to the next item.

The post is an interesting read because it also talks about the ten (10) most used short cut in Google Reader.

The “j” key (which takes you to the next item) is perhaps the most well-known keyboard shortcut. However, there are many more keys to press, and I was curious to see just how much they were tapped in Google Reader. A quick analysis later, I came up with a simple top-10 list, and I thought it would be fun to share. The units here are “milli-Js”, where 1,000 milli-Js are equivalent to all the presses “j” received.[Source]

Parparita lists down ten short cut keys

1 j: next item
2 n: item scan down
3 k: previous item
4 m: mark as read/unread
5 t: tag item
6 p: item scan up
7 shift-n: next subscription
8 v: view original
9 o: expand/collapse item
10 s: star item

Parparita mentions that there are more short cut keys available and points to complete list here. One look at it though gives one the sense of overload or Information overload. Maybe one should just stick to ten or just press SHIFT /, to get the cheat sheet.

One of the more useful posts I have read so far for this year.
