Instant Feeds

by Juned on October 8th, 2007

Do you want to create and instant RSS feed for anything? Almost hassle free and would only take you approximately between five to ten minutes ? If you are in a rush and would like to have an instant RSS feed this might be a good thing to know.I do not think its a new thing since I have been using it for sometime but it is worthwhile to mention it. One trick as useful as having your opml updated and in your flash drive.

Google offers several services from searches to hosting blogs -and the lists keeps on growing. But one of the services I really like using aside from gmail, google igoogle, and google reader is Google Alerts.

Google Alerts are emails that are sent to you when there are new results for search terms you have set-up. These are news results taken from News, Web, Blogs, Video and Groups. The Alerts can be grouped as individual (based on source - ie News or Web or format -ie video) or aggregated alerts.

So who uses these alerts? According to Google Alerts FAQ Page:

Well, if it’s interesting to you, it’s a good subject for a Google Alert. We’ve found that many alerts are set up by people who are:

- monitoring a developing news story

- keeping current on a competitor or industry

- tracking medical advances

- getting the latest on a celebrity or sports team

- watching for new videos that match a specific topic

What interests me the most though is when you create the Alert , which is done by clicking on the create alert button, there are two options made available to the reader - these alerts can be received in more ways than one. On the bottom part of left side bar you will see two options RSS and Atom. Yes! These alerts can be automatically converted to web feeds.Instant feeds.

Of course you have to sign up for the service, which is still ironically in Beta.
