Looking at a MillionRSS
A directory is still one of the best places to look for an address or a web address and its RSS feed. This is because the items or entries are organized alphabetically, by subject, and any other category that comes to the mind of the directory designer. It is probably safe to say it is one of the most basic form of a database. Anyway, The last few weeks I was looking at the RSS directory called a millionRSS or more properly called … well a millionRSS. 146,356 feeds so far. This at present the number of feeds that have so far registered at millionRSS project. Its mission to is to:
to collect over 1,000,000 RSS feeds that are out there in the wild west of what we know as ‘the blogosphere’. We offer free submission for anyone to easily send us their RSS feed details (along with their site description and brand [Source]
The project was established in order to:
* general RSS promotion of feeds to the masses
* a centralized place to browse feeds for popular categories of sites
* to help out the little guys (and big guys too) - this is all about the long tail____________
* provide a single page for any blog or rss feed out there with another home on the web to promote their content for FREE

It is easy to add one’s site to millionRSS. Just fill out the form and submit… and its done. In terms of search just add the term in the search field click and you get the list of websites with their blog url and feed url. The search does its job well. The only room for improvement for it would be that perhaps it would be better if there were filters that could be done with the search. One can also get the OPML of the search - this would enable you to easily upload your search results with the feed URL to your newsreader. Quite handy.
The millionRSS also has ranking system called Bump Rank - for those interested in the ranking of the feeds. As for me, what caught my interest was the search and not really the ranking system.
Two things that could be improved with MillionRSS: (i) As mentioned before the search could be improved further to allow refinement and (ii)A system to get rid of the double entries in the directory.
