Netscape’s Problem
Chris Finke over at the Netscape Blog writes about a potential feed problem with feed readers that use Netscape’s DTD for RSS 0.91. This DTD file was left out of the mix when Netscape went to its new server last weekend.
Netwscape restored the file when they discovered the problem but it will only be there until July 1, 2007.
Chris only mentions one reader affected but intimates that there are others. Here’s what he said, “The unavailability of this file had the effect of causing certain feed readers - Microsoft’s Live.com RSS gadget, for one - to refuse to display RSS 0.91 feeds. This is what we call in the technical community “not good.”" (emphasis mine)
If you saw that your feeds were not updating over the weekend, you might have one that uses this Netscape technology.
