Got this bit of news from SearchEngineLand. Google removed web feeds from search results. Here is the official statement from Google via the Google Webmaster Central.

Taking feeds out of our web search results

The decision to remove web feeds from the search was brought about to improve the user experience - no more repetition of entries - less information overload.

Here is the official word:

As a webmaster, you may have been concerned about your RSS/Atom feeds crowding out their associated HTML pages in Google’s search results. By serving feeds, we could cause a poor user experience:

1. Feeds increase the likelihood that users see duplicate search results.

2. Users clicking on a feed may miss valuable content available only in the HTML page.

Feeds that are stand-alone documents (not a repitition) like Podcasts have been excluded.

As the blog said it is all done to improve the Google punters’ search experience. Less information glut or overload.

What do you think?
