RSS communicating: e2Campus v 2.4

by Juned on August 14th, 2007

Omnilert, LLC has announced the release of e2Campus version 2.4 - which is a Web-based emergency notification system that enables school officials to self-administer and send time-sensitive messages. This technology makes use of exsisting communication technology - including webfeeds like RSS - to distribute and relay communications. According, to their press release.

The self-service, Web-based system enables a single person to communicate timely information to thousands of people anywhere, anytime, on any device. It is ideal for announcing school closings, game cancellations, weather warnings, terrorist alerts, and marketing promotions. The system is built around a reliable SMS text messaging system that sends content directly to a mobile phone, traditional phone, e-mail address, Web page, RSS reader, digital sign, alert beacon, or loudspeaker. The wonders of our time. Although, I wonder if anyone notices that this technology is sitting on a gossamer thread called the Internet. Are we becoming too dependent on this technology? Just a thought.
