The New Bloglines
The on-line feed reader Bloglines has released a beta-redesign and features among other things (i) customizaable start page. It is available here at beta.bloglines.com. Present punters of Bloglines can opt to use the beta release. Other features include: (ii) The ability to drag and drop feeds and (iii)three viewing options - (a) full, (b)quick and (c)three pane.
It has been some time since I used bloglines so I opted to open a new account and in a few minutes I was in business. You begin at the Start Page where it prompts or asks you to drag and drop a feed. If you do not like any of the 10 feeds on the page you can add by doing any of the following: (i) adding the url of the blog, (ii) upload an opml, and (iii) do an article search and select the feed of that particular article. When you select the url of the blog all the feeds of that particular url appear RSS, ATOM, Post and Comments. After selecting the feeds these appear on left navigation bar and you just need to drag and drop the feed to the Start Page.
You can get to the Start Page by clicking on the Bloglines Icon (?) on the upper left-most part of the page. I wish though there discernible button that would take you to the Start Page. Surfing between the three view options is a breeze and makes it more easier to select and read posts.
Overall, The beta release seems to be a great improvement over the recently old Bloglines. Will it best the other web feed reader like Google Reader and its like? Only time will tell.
