Today Nearby: local RSS feeds
Platial has a new service called Today Nearby, it is a very (very!) nice mashup of feeds from Reuters, Flickr, YouTube and others. The information from these feeds is put on a map and you can subscribe to this feed with KML and RSS. It’s great to see a local cityname when you arrive on the page! Nice;) Type in any cityname and you should see the latest info about that region… Platial also have their own blog which states:

Try it out, give us feedback, get involved and keep an eye out for further developments. Along these lines, Today Nearby is currently a proof of concept, an “alpha” level product. This means that the feed sources may change, the outbound feeds and formats aren’t necessarily reliable (as we change formats around) and there are bound to be huge gaps in data. But, if you are as excited about Places and feeds as we are, this should prove to be a valuable distraction from your other work.
