What Would Seth Godin Do the plugin
You will either hate the title of this plugin or love it. I wonder what Seth Godin thinks about it? Anyway, the WordPress plugin only appears to first time visitors to one’s blog and offers an rss subscription of the blog and more. It can be customized to offer greetings and provide much needed information that can be used by visitors - for example a contact address of the blogger. The message only appears for three consecutive visits: The plugin’s message, lifespan and location can be changed by the blogger: Its highly customizable. The plugin and more information about is available at Richard K Miller’s blog, specifically here - where you can: (i) read the feedbacks and comments; (ii) get instructions on how to install; (iii)and of course to download the plugin. I first read about this plugin at ADESBLOG.com . Thanks.
According Miller, he made this WordPress plugin to implement Godin’s idea of using cookies to give a different experience for first time or new visitors to the blog. And he quotes Godin:
One opportunity that’s underused is the idea of using cookies to treat returning visitors differently than newbies. It’s more work at first, but it can offer two experiences to two different sorts of people. [Source: In the Middle, Starting]
Miller further said that the installation of the plugin is simple. And by looking at the installation instructions at Miller’s blog it would seem so. WordPress users would have the advantage of a plugin that is stress free to install, customizable and provides a more pro-active way to offer the RSS feed, welcome and inform first time visitors.
And that is the WordPress plugin called What Would Seth Godin Do.
